This painting is inspired by experiences I had in North Dakota and in Palenque.
The painting speaks of faith, hope, and charity as well as the importance
of connecting the heart with the head.I was gifted with this feather fan.

"The Octopus Sleeps"           watercolour, gouache, and graphite 
This is an illustration from the picture book The Octopus and the Sea Harp published by
Sipar Publishing in Croatia. I never use photographic references for of any of my artwork, so I had
to find a real octopus. I found one at the Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto.The drawings I did of
the octupus gave me essential information as I did the ilustrations. The Lana Cafe on the Korana
in Karlovac has a spectacular fishtank which is full of sea coral. I studied and did
drawings of the coral as more preparion for this illustration.

A pair of gold sequined shoes which I found in a second hand store
were the inspiration for this painting. The flowers here were ones gifted to me.
The butterflies and insects are from drawings I did at a natural history museum.

"Rain in Los Lunas" This large acrylic painting was inspired by a small watercolour
I did on the side of the road while travelling through New Mexico.

 

Here I am drawing during a day trip to Ogulin. I have an obsession and a compulsion
to draw and paint wherever I go. These works record my wonder at what has
caught my eye. Some of the work later becomes reference material
for my studio paintings.
