"Liili and Maks Go West"    Acrylic on wood panel
I am writing a story titled Lili and the Silver Bird. This painting
describes a scene occuring near the beginning of the tale.

"The Maiden"   watercolour and graphite on paper
This is one of the thirty-two illustrations I did for the book How the Pebbles Became Round.
Published by Sipar Publishing in Croatia. Written by Jasminka Tiha-Stepanic

"The Octopus and the Eel"     watercolour and graphite on paper
This is one of thirty-two illustrations I did for the picture book The Octopus and
the Sea Harp.Published by Sipar Publishing in Croata. Written by Jasminka Tiha-Stepanic.
I never use photos as reference materials for my work, so that necessitated finding
a real octopus, an eel, a lobster, crabs, and other sea creatures. I found them all
at Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto. I did many draings there which I used later
while creating the illustrations.

"The Fan"      graphite, watercolour, gouache, 23 karat gold leaf on paper
This painting is inspired by experiences I had in North Dakota and in Palenque.
The painting speaks of faith, hope, and charity as well as the importance
of connecting the heart with the head.

"The Fan" (detail).

"The Flaming Tree"            watercolour, gouach, ink. and 23 karat gold leaf

This is a commissioned painting. I found this free while out walking on a rainy autumn day.
I had paper with me, so I did a small painting of it then and there. An art collector, who had
an interest in my work, saw the small painting and asked me to do this, a large version it.

Here I am drawing during a day trip to Ogulin. I have an obsession and a compulsion
to draw and paint wherever I go. These works record my wonder at what has
caught my eye. Some of the work later becomes reference material
for my studio paintings.

"Snow at Dawn"   watercolour, gouache, ink, graphite on 300 lb watercolour paper

Horses often appear in my paintings. The incredible experience
of owning a horse continues to impact my work.

St. Valentine      watercolour, goache, and graphite on 300 lb watercolour paper

A while back, my life included a lot of canoeing, snowshoeing, eating deer meat
and lake trout. It was from this era that this painting emerged.

"Maiden at the Edge of the Sea"          watercolour, gouache, and graphite on 300 lb watercolour paper

This is an illustration for the picture book How the Pebbles Became Round
published by Sipar Publishing in Croatia.

"The Octopus Sleeps"           watercolour, gouache, and graphite
This is an illustration from the picture book The Octopus and the Sea Harp published by
Sipar Publishing in Croatia. I never use photographic references for of any of my artwork, so I had
to find a real octopus. I found one at the Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto. The drawings I did of
the octupus gave me essential information as I did the ilustrations. The Lana Cafe on the Korana
in Karlovac has a spectacular fishtank which is full of sea coral. I studied and did
drawings of the coral as more preparion for this illustration.

"The Shoe"              21 x 29 inches          watercolour, gouache, and graphite
In a second hand store I found a pair of small slhoes embroidered and sequined in gold.
I bought the shoes because I knew immediately that I would be doing a painting
inspired by them. It seemed very natural to have the shoe currounded
by flowers, butterflies, and insects.
