As a child, I found the colours entrancing  and my eyes always sought my favourite squares. Many daydreams were fostered by these quilts. It was an unforgettable time. We happened to attend an outdoor celebration of Buddha's birthday. There was dancing, and drumming with all the participants wearing beautiful traditional clothes. Near the end, everyone was invited to pray together, each person holding a lantern. This painting was inspired by the memories of  that evening.

During my wanderings, I used to contemplate the idea of spirits who care for a place. I thought that spirits can't only be around grand and famous places; the spirit beings must also be present at the lowly strip mine where nature struggles to return after years of human interference.
