"Diva of Charleston Pits"
poster printed on vinyl
medium (11 inches x 16 inches)
$50.00 (includes hst)
large (16 inches x 25 inches)
$65.00 (includes hst)
Charleston Pits was previously an
old strip mine just outside my
hometown of Atikokan. It is
not on a tourist map of "beautiful
places" you must see in northern
Ontario! But, personally, I think it
is gorgeous. I love rambling the
dirt roads of Charleston Pits and
gazing up at the spectacular skies
that spread gloriously above
this place.
During my wanderings, I used
to contemplate the idea of spirits
who care for a place. I thought
that spirits can't only be around
grand and famous places; the
spirit beings must also be
present at the lowly strip mine
where nature struggles to
return after years of human
interference.
This work speaks about my
belief that all places are imbued
with spirit.

When we were kids my mother
made us quilts from any spare
fabric left over from other
sewing projects.
As a child, I found the colours
entrancing and my eyes always
sought my favourite squares.
Many daydreams were fostered
by these quilts.
These colourful bedcoverings,
with endless patterns, have
inspired the quilt paintings
I have done over the years.

large (16 inches x 25 inches)

This work is about faith, hope,
and charity. And, it is also about
seeing the exterior and interior
worlds with ruthless clarity.
Woven into the work is also
the Hopi belief that combining
the energies of both the heart
and mind is of great importance,
a belief shared by many faiths.

The advantages of Posters Printed
on Vinyl:The posters are completely
waterproof. This makes the use of
glass optional when framing. A
frame, plus a foam core back, is all
that is needed for a complete and
elegant look. The durability of the
posters makes them suitable for the
more active rooms in your home.
As well, they are ideally suited for
the places in your home with high
humidity, such as your kitchen and
bath, since they are fully resistant to
the mold and wrinkling that will occur
with regular paper posters in that
environment. The images have a satin
finish, allowing the rich colours
to be fully appreciated.
Your satisfaction is guaranteed!

"Woman in Prayer"
poster printed on vinyl
medium (11 inches x 16 inches)
$50.00 (includes hst)
large (16 inches x 25 inches)
$65.00 (includes hst)
Ivan and I lived in Busan, Korea
for a few months. It was an
unforgettable time.
We happened to attend an outdoor
celebration of Buddha's
birthday. There was dancing,
and drumming with all the
participants wearing beautiful
traditional clothes.
Near the end, everyone was
invited to pray together,
each person holding a
lantern.
This painting was inspired
by the memories of that
evening.

This woman with the unflinching
gaze is encouraging you to listen
to the voice of your heart when
it feels ever more convenient to
plunge your head deep in the sand.
How many times do we set ourselves
back by doubting our inner voice?
We ignore the voice that could
save us from bitter consequences
and instead we say to ourselves "it's
not that bad" or "I must be wrong"
or "I must be oversensitive" or
I should be more understanding".
This woman is not your foe, she
is your champion! She is reminding
you to hold firm. She is saying,
"BE BRAVE! LOOK! Now make your
decision with your eyes wide open!"
