"Sleeping Octopus"

This is an illustration from the picture book How the Little Octopus Found the Sea Harp (Kako mala hobotnica pronašla morsku harfu) published by the Croatian publisher Sipar. I have illustrated five picture books for this publisher. Note: As I do not use photos as reference materials for my artwork, I needed to get drawings of a real octopus as preparation for this picture book. Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto is where I found an octopus to draw. While there, I did drawings of other sea creatures that I required for this story.
